Eleanor--I hereby encourage you--to be Eleanor--which is easy to say, but maybe it's also easy to do? Show us the valid forks in the road (oyyy, terribly mixed metaphor.)

Guston made a whole decade of really painful paintings ('51-'61 or so)--out of which emerged, finally, the late work...

I know it's partly ego (force of personality) and am glad you don't rely on this...

...so again, lets go back to...encouragement (maybe meant quite literally)...
